Garden of My Desire
Garden of My Desire is the present location of the old Allard Plantation. The plantation's collection of ancient, live oaks was donated to the city of New Orleans and became City Park in 1845. On this romantic site the Peristyle was built circa 1890 in classical Greek revival design. Filled with abundant wildlife, many of the mature live oaks in the area are four to six hundred years old. This majestic tree overlooks a lagoon remnant of the old Bayou Metairie. Somewhere in time during its rich history one may have experienced this garden of my desire.
