Brown Thrasher in Paradise

In 1988 I was interested in floral designs and putting them in surrealistic settings with birds. For me this was a fascinating journey into the study of flowers and birds and how they actually look. I was
utterly captivated by the incredible beauty of God’s design. To observe the subtle changes in color in the flowing softness of the petals of flowers. To study up close the almost supernatural iridescence in the feathers of birds was truly an amazing experience.
I entered “Brown Thrasher Paradise” in the 1988 Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild Annual show. It’s the biggest show of the year for wildlife photographers, water color artists, acrylic and oil painters and wood carvers.
My painting won first place for original oils and Best of Show in all categories. It was truly an honor!
