John Armstrong House

For around 10 years I admired this majestic old house in the Garden District of New Orleans. A few years ago, I took on the challenge to paint it. In doing my research I discovered something very interesting about this house. It was built in 1853 by John Armstrong who owned an Iron Foundry. It was his company that designed and built the cast iron columns, gates, railings and ornamental details of most of the Garden District throughout the 1850’s before the Civil War.
