Pete Fountain’s Half Fast Walking Club

In 1993 I got a surprise phone call from Pete Fountain. He was a fan of my work and wanted me to do the official painting and poster for his Half Fast Walking Club. We had several meetings and made some decisions about what he wanted to see in the painting. On Mardi Gras day his club would start off early in the morning at Commanders Palace, then walk past Delmonico’s on St. Charles Avenue, then past Lee Circle and finish the day at Mike Anderson’s on Bourbon Street. His club at the time was at the Hilton. Each year their costumes had a different theme. The varying costumes in the painting represent the different themes they wore over the years.
