Pontchartrain Beach

In September of 1983 I was exhibiting my work at Clearview Shopping Center in Metairie when the people of New Orleans heard some really bad news. Our beloved Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park was closing down. For 55 years, generations of kids thought of “the Beach” as the most fun place you could possibly go to every summer. Every one of us from that generation has our memories. But when I heard the news, I had a hunch that a poster of “the Beach” could be a good seller. I prayed about what to do when one night while sitting on my bed, in a split second I had a vision of a collage with a palm tree on the left, the old laughing clown and the Ferris Wheel on the right, and the Zephyr in the background and that night “Ponchartrain Beach” was born.
